Dr. Makesha Givs, LPC
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”~ Wayne Dyer
A healthier mindset can lead to a healthier life. My life philosophy is rooted in Philippians 4:8, which reminds us to focus our thoughts on what is true, honorable, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise. While we may not have the power to change life situations or past traumatic experiences, we can learn healthier ways to process them and gain greater peace, clarity, and confidence in our everyday lives.
My Experience Makesha Givs
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who primarily works with individuals ages 15 and older, tailoring my therapeutic approach to what works best for you and your unique needs. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered, and faith-integrated principles to help uncover and address underlying emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. These approaches not only increase self-awareness but also promote healthier communication, stronger self-confidence, and improved overall functioning.
I am passionate about working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-worth challenges, inner child healing, and relationship or family-related concerns. I also enjoy supporting individuals seeking personal growth, strengthening their relationship with God, and discovering their identity and purpose.
My Education
I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Southern University, my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Southern University, and my Doctor of Education in Counselor Education from Texas Southern University.
My Availability
I am accepting new patients. I am available for in-office appointments on Saturdays. I also offer virtual counseling sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
