Chris Nelms

Counseling Intern

People often reach out for counseling support at their greatest time of need or emotional pain.  Life’s journey is rife with challenges, trials, and moments of self-discovery, and seeking counseling is a testament to accessing the wisdom necessary for understanding, recovery, and healing.

My Experience:

My career in Human Resources has spanned over 17 years and I have dedicated my career to fostering organizational growth, supporting diverse teams,  ensuring a positive work environment, and supporting employees through work-life related situations and crises.  My experiences have exposed me to medical crises, grief and loss, suicide loss, mass shootings, family issues, and life’s tragedy that have influenced my passion for counseling, serving, and supporting others.  I enjoy working with corporate executives, veterans, first responders, immigrants, asylum seekers, blended family issues, separation, and divorce recovery.  I am blessed to be married and raising three children in a culturally diverse, blended family.

My Education:  Chris Nelms

After completing my undergraduate degree in Business Administration, my educational journey in psychology began in graduate school where I received a Master of Science Degree from Texas A&M University in Human Resource Development with a focus on Organizational Psychology. I am completing the final requirements of an additional Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently under the supervision of Shahidrah Cowgill, LPC-S, NCC.
